SEAPATH v1.2 Released: Easier Installation, Enhanced Capabilities, and a Redesigned Wiki
LF Energy is pleased to announce the release of SEAPATH v1.2, the latest milestone for the open source, industrial-grade virtualization platform for digital substations. This release delivers meaningful improvements across deployment, configuration, and day-to-day operations, making SEAPATH easier to adopt and operate for utilities, integrators, and technology vendors.
SEAPATH v1.2 focuses on three major areas: core platform enhancements, a new installer that simplifies deployment, and a fully redesigned Wiki shaped directly by community feedback.
What’s New in SEAPATH v1.2
This release introduces several technical improvements designed to streamline real-world deployments and operational workflows:
- Refactored SR-IOV support, improving robustness and maintainability
- Streamlined network customization capabilities, enabling more flexible configurations
- Cluster Cockpit plugins now available on the Debian-based flavor
- New cephadm support for Debian-based deployments (Yocto-based support is planned for the next release)
- Extensive documentation updates across the Ansible repository, reflecting current best practices and configurations
Together, these enhancements improve both the performance and usability of SEAPATH in production environments.
A New Installer for Faster, More Consistent Deployments
Getting started with SEAPATH is now easier than ever. SEAPATH v1.2 introduces a new installer, designed to simplify and standardize the installation process across supported environments. This reduces setup friction and helps teams move more quickly from evaluation to deployment.
To provide additional context, the SEAPATH Technical Steering Committee (TSC) dedicated a session to introducing the new installer. The meeting recording is available on YouTube and offers valuable insight into the installer’s design decisions and intended usage.
A Fully Redesigned SEAPATH Wiki
Over the past several months, the SEAPATH community shared candid feedback on how the documentation could better support users, especially first-time adopters. The message was clear: the Wiki needed to be clearer, easier to navigate, and more intuitive.
Based on that feedback, the SEAPATH Wiki has been fully redesigned as part of the v1.2 release:
- A new “Getting Started” section guides users through their first steps with SEAPATH
- Documentation has been restructured to provide a smoother progression from fundamentals to advanced scenarios
- Improved readability and navigation make it easier to find relevant information and build confidence quickly
To help users dive in even faster, the team has also prepared a short introductory video that provides helpful context before exploring the Wiki in depth.
Community-Driven Progress
This release reflects the strength of SEAPATH’s collaborative development model. LF Energy would like to thank all community members who shared feedback and insights; their real-world experience directly shaped this evolution.
