SC Decarbonisation Hub (SCDH) provides visibility into, and the ability to manage, suppliers' Scope 3 emissions.
Companies face extreme pressure to address greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Proactively addressing scope 3 emissions for suppliers and related cases can improve scope 3 accountability. Such data and insights are essential for an organization to create a mitigation plan. The core purpose of SC Decarbonisation Hub (SCDH) is to enable accountability for scope 3 emission, leading to generation of actionable insights, which can help the user develop a strategy to decarbonise and progress towards net zero.
SCDH creates visibility and measurability, while spurring internal conversations. The central programme includes aspects to ensure that visibility and measurability are translated into decisions and actions that can deliver the change an organisation is focused on, such as training of frontline staff, project staff, and category managers in carbon management competencies.
The SCDH digital platform acts as an enabler for decarbonisation programmes, though it is important to note that all actionable insights will need to then be addressed outside that digital platform. These actions are essential for the digital platform’s value to be realised, and for decarbonisation targets to be achieved.
Although primarily built for companies in the energy industry and its supply chain to exchange carbon emissions, SCDH can be applied by any company with plans to reduce their scope 3 emissions.
SCDH can be divided into 3 parts:
- It leverages an Agile platform, allowing for collaborative solution development and improvement.
- It provides a platform for suppliers to submit their carbon emissions, enabling organisations to better track their scope 3 emissions.
- It generates actionable insights to reduce those carbon emissions.
