The National Open Data for Electrification – NODE – Collective is a nonprofit alliance dedicated to sourcing, structuring, and maintaining comprehensive data on every incentive program in the U.S.
Building A Comprehensive National Incentives Database
Billions in IRA rebates present a transformative opportunity for electrification. Yet, a fractured incentive data landscape is causing confusion and friction for businesses and consumers alike, and slowing innovation when time is of the essence.
As a nonprofit alliance founded by the Building Decarbonization Coalition, Rewiring America, and Eli Technologies, the National Open Data for Electrification (NODE) Collective sources, structures, and maintains data on every incentive program in the nation, and makes it open and accessible to all who are committed to furthering the goal of building decarbonization.
The challenge being faced is fragmented and outdated electrification incentive data are major barriers to progress in the electrification. The NODE Collective has amassed the most complete, well-structured, accurate set of incentive data in the U.S., as well as developed the tools to enlist a broad coalition in this effort moving forward:
- Proactive Data Collection
- Dedicated submission channels enable us to actively gather up-to-date and precise incentive data.
- Collaborative Updates
- A network of stakeholders collaborating to maintain data accuracy and consistency, underpinned by structured protocols and expert review.
- Standardization of Incentive Data
- By creating clear formats and guidelines, NODE Collective eliminates inconsistencies, facilitating streamlined data exchange.
Goals of the NODE Collective
- Accelerate Innovation
- Open and accessible data is the bedrock upon which market solutions can be rapidly created and scaled, accelerating innovation to address the climate crisis.
- Build a Broad Coalition
- Public and private sector stakeholders in every industry and every state, transparent governance, and open data frameworks to ensure incentive data remains a public good.
- Deploy Best-in-class Technology
- Purpose-built digital tools for data collection, workflow automation, and quality assurance that can be distributed to a large number of contributors
The benefits are clear; open, accessible data amplifies the effectiveness of every actor in the electrification space:
- Consumers get affordability and transparency
- Contractors and OEMs get the tools for informed interactions and accurate pricing
- Governments and Program Admins are empowered to fine-tune policy instruments for maximum impact
We invite all stakeholders – from grassroots organizations to large corporations – to contribute to this living data repository. Through open collaboration, we can accelerate the design, adoption, and scaling of impactful decarbonization solutions.
