FOSDEM 2025 saw a complete day of packed sessions exploring the open source ecosystem for energy systems in the Energy Devroom, managed by members of the LF Energy community. The theme of this year’s devroom was “Accelerating the Transition through Open Source”, and included two dozen presentations on open source solutions for areas ranging from EV charging infrastructure to power grid modeling, battery data, energy access, energy management, open hardware, and more.

Videos of all sessions are now available on demand on the FOSDEM website.

The devroom managers were extremely pleased with the wealth of useful content presented this year. This appreciation was further reflected by attendees, with most sessions completely full, and many with lines of people down the hallway. The tremendous interest amongst the open source developer community in energy topics was inspiring to see.

LF Energy extends its thanks to the FOSDEM organizers for providing the space and support for the Energy Devroom, and to our devroom managers:

  • Anna-Lina Helsen
  • Boris Dolley, RTE
  • Dan Brown, LF Energy
  • Erwann Roussy, Savoir-faire Linux
  • Kai-Uwe Hermann, PIONIX
  • Nico Rikken, Alliander
  • Nicolas Höning, Seita
  • Rachel Tipton
  • Sebastian Grüner, E.ON

We look forward to another successful devroom in 2026. In the meantime, watch for recap blogs about individual sessions presented in the 2025 Energy Devroom over the coming weeks.
