LF Energy provides a focused set of marketing services to help hosted projects build awareness, share progress, and connect with relevant audiences across the energy and open source ecosystems.

Every hosted project can engage with a shared foundation of marketing support. As projects develop stronger stories, clearer use cases, and growing community momentum, additional marketing opportunities may become available to help expand visibility and showcase impact.

LF Energy hosts a diverse portfolio of projects spanning software, specifications, data initiatives, and research-oriented efforts across multiple segments of the energy system. As a result, marketing support may take different forms at different points in a project’s journey, reflecting the project’s goals, audience, and role in the broader ecosystem.

Shared Marketing Foundation for All Hosted Projects

All LF Energy hosted projects can engage with a shared foundation of marketing support designed to help communities communicate progress and stay connected to the broader ecosystem.

This shared foundation includes:

  • Opportunities for inclusion in the LF Energy newsletter when there is relevant project news
  • Consideration for amplification through LF Energy’s primary social channels
  • Basic updates and additions to project-related content on LFEnergy.org
  • Editorial guidance for blog posts and other contributed content
  • Promotion of relevant webinars, meetups, and event participation through LF Energy channels
  • Access to common marketing coordination and communications guidance

This shared foundation gives every hosted project a starting point for building awareness and engagement within the LF Energy community.

Additional Marketing Opportunities

As projects grow, they may have opportunities to engage with a broader set of marketing activities that help tell a deeper story, reach wider audiences, and highlight real-world progress.

These opportunities may include:

  • Blog support
    Authored and community-contributed blog content, including editing, coordination, and publication support through LF Energy’s content program.
  • Case studies
    Development of case studies that highlight real-world deployments, project adoption, and ecosystem impact.
  • Research reports and white papers
    Coordination of selected research reports or white papers with support from external resources.
  • Press and media support
    Support for selected announcements through press releases, media pitching, and interview coordination.
  • LinkedIn showcase page setup
    Initial support for establishing LinkedIn showcase pages for projects or SIGs, which may then transition to community management.
  • Graphic design support
    Assistance from LF Creative Services for project-related graphics such as logos, collateral, and social media visuals.
  • Expanded event and webinar support
    Promotion of hosted events, project webinars, and selected third-party event participation, along with related messaging support.

Content and Storytelling

Projects may have opportunities for support such as:

  • Blog posts authored by LF Energy marketing
  • Editing and coordination of community-contributed blogs
  • Case study development
  • Annual report inclusion where relevant
  • Coordination of contributed articles
  • Coordination of selected externally supported white papers or research reports

Social and Digital Channels

Projects may have opportunities for support such as:

  • Promotion through LF Energy’s primary social channels
  • Custom visual assets for social promotion
  • Initial setup of LinkedIn showcase pages for projects or SIGs
  • Inclusion in LF Energy email communications
  • Basic website content additions and updates, including project pages on LFEnergy.org

PR and External Visibility

Projects may have opportunities for support such as:

  • Press release development for selected announcements
  • Pitching of releases and case studies to relevant media
  • Coordination of media interviews
  • Messaging and communications guidance around major milestones

Events and Webinars

Projects may have opportunities for support such as:

  • Promotion of LF Energy-hosted events
  • Promotion of project webinars
  • Promotion of participation in selected third-party events
  • Tracking and notification of speaking opportunities
  • Review and editing of speaking proposals
  • Limited onsite support tied to broader LF Energy event priorities

How Marketing Support Grows with the Project

LF Energy’s marketing program is designed to support projects throughout their journey. Many projects begin by building visibility through the shared marketing foundation: newsletter inclusion, social amplification, website updates, editorial guidance, and event promotion.

As projects develop, they often create new opportunities to tell a broader story – whether around releases, adoption, partnerships, interoperability, research outcomes, or industry impact. At that point, additional marketing activities such as case studies, contributed content, media outreach, white papers, design support, or more coordinated campaigns may become part of the project’s marketing path.

This approach reflects the diversity of the LF Energy portfolio. Some hosted projects are deployable software platforms, while others are specifications, data initiatives, or research efforts. Some are aimed at direct operational use in the energy sector, while others advance experimentation, interoperability, or future capabilities. Marketing support can therefore evolve in different ways for different projects over time.

Dedicated Project Marketing Support

Some project communities may wish to invest in a more sustained or in-depth marketing program. In those cases, LF Marketing can provide a quote for dedicated project marketing support beyond the shared services described above. Funding for such services would need to be provided by a sponsor or group of sponsors within the project community.

To request marketing support for your project, please submit the LF Energy marketing request form. This helps the LF Energy team understand the opportunity, coordinate next steps, and connect projects with the most appropriate support.
