LF Energy EV Charging is a special interest group collaborating on open source solutions for electric vehicle charging infrastructure

The LF Energy EV Charging SIG is a collaborative initiative aimed at advancing open source solutions in the electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem. The group serves as a center of gravity for innovation, technical collaboration, and standardization efforts in EV charging, fostering cross-project synergies and identifying gaps where new open source projects can drive progress. By facilitating an open, standards-aligned, and interoperable EV charging ecosystem, the LF Energy EV Charging SIG is driving the future of sustainable mobility through open source collaboration.

The projects currently included in this SIG are:

  • EVerest: EVerest is a versatile open source charging station software stack, designed for both private and public charging stations. Built on a modular microservice architecture, it supports a broad range of industry protocols, including OCPP, ISO15118, IEC 61851, and others.
  • CitrineOS: CitrineOS is an open source Charge Point Management System (CPMS) for OCPP 2.0.1, designed to support the transition from legacy OCPP 1.6 implementations. Key features include support for Core, Advanced Security, UI, and Device Management capabilities of OCPP 2.0.1; OCPI 2.2.1 integration for roaming; interoperability tools for testing and building OCPP 2.0.1-compliant systems; and more.
