Enabling Communication to Deliver Smart Energy

The modern grid will depend on good communication between utilities, customers, and devices. For instance, utilities need to tell a customer that renewable energy is available, so fire up that EV charging station. Or, customers, network conditions require you to turn your thermostats down to avoid bringing on a fossil-fuel peaker-plant, or black outs.

Enabling Substation Automation

Key to substation automation is LF Energy’s Configuration Modules for Power Industry Automation Systems (CoMPAS) project, announced in 2020. CoMPAS should enable grid operators to manage the transition to clean energy by better handling fluctuations in supply from renewable resources and demand from electric vehicles.
