Power Grid Model v1.11.x Adds Support for Asymmetric Lines and Improved Power Flow Calculations

The LF Energy Power Grid Model maintainers are excited to announce the v1.11.x release series of Power Grid Model, including support for asymmetric lines and more extensive support for power flow calculations with automatic tap regulation.

Highlights

  • ✅ Added support for asymmetric lines (see #720 and the documentation).
  • ✅ Added support for power flow calculations with automatic tap regulation with step-up transformers and meshed grids (see #662#927 and the documentation).
  • 💥 Fixed sparse matrix errors in state estimation for certain grids (see #853).
  • 💥 Various bug fixes (see, e.g., #881 and #871).
  • 🚀 Improved memory footprint for deserialization (see #895), and enhanced error messages.
  • 🚀 Improvements and fixes to the documentation.
  • 🎉 Various improvements to the internal implementation and compiler support.

Dropped Platform/Runtime Support

As agreed on during the last Power Grid Model meet-up and/or as reflected in the Release Strategy, support for the following platforms and runtimes were dropped. Please ensure your environment meets the new minimum requirements.
