Harmonizing the Future of EV Charging
The EVerest CPO Forum is a dedicated working group and exchange platform for Charge Point Operators, charger vendors, and contributors working with the EVerest ecosystem. It serves as the end user group for the EVerest project, creating a practical space where field experience can shape open development priorities.
The forum brings together operators and solution providers to align on requirements, KPIs, and best practices for reliable, interoperable, and future-proof EV charging infrastructure. Its purpose is straightforward: translate real operational challenges into concrete software requirements that can be addressed in the open.
Why this forum exists
EV charging infrastructure depends on many layers working together, including charger hardware, firmware, backend systems, vehicles, and evolving standards. Operators are often the first to see where real-world complexity creates friction, whether that is inconsistent error reporting, firmware instability, difficult onboarding, or uneven behavior across vendors.
The EVerest CPO Forum was created to connect those operational realities with the open source development process behind EVerest. Rather than creating new standards, the group focuses on how existing standards and interfaces are implemented in real products, and how shared software can reduce avoidable complexity across the ecosystem.
What members work on, and why it matters
The EVerest CPO Forum focuses on practical collaboration that helps operators, vendors, and contributors improve EV charging performance in the field.
By joining, members can contribute to and benefit from work such as:
- Operational requirements and roadmap input
Help shape EVerest development priorities based on real deployment and operations experience. - Reliability, interoperability, and compliance KPIs
Align on measurable indicators that support more consistent performance across vendors and systems. - Field diagnostics and error reporting
Improve how issues are identified and resolved, including collaborative work on a Better Error Codes framework. - Procurement and deployment guidance
Support shared tools such as standardized EVerest tender templates for hardware procurement. - CPMS integration and large-scale testing
Exchange testing insights and use massive-scale CPMS integration testing tools to strengthen interoperability validation. - Firmware stability, onboarding, and maintenance workflows
Surface recurring operational issues and help turn them into shared requirements and better implementation practices. - Direct influence on the open source roadmap
Bring end user priorities into the discussion and help ensure the most important issues are addressed in the open. - Early visibility into updates and learnings
Gain access to testing insights, implementation feedback, and shared operational experience from across the ecosystem. - Peer exchange with operators, vendors, and contributors
Compare challenges, identify common patterns, and solve shared problems more efficiently.
Participation is free, with no membership fees and no heavy administrative burden. The goal is simple: create useful exchange and practical outcomes that make EV charging infrastructure more reliable, interoperable, and easier to operate.
Who should join
The EVerest CPO Forum is open to organizations that want to improve how EV charging systems perform in the field and how operator needs are reflected in shared infrastructure.
Charge Point Operators
This includes:
- operators already running EVerest-based chargers
- operators not yet running EVerest, but who want to shape the direction of the stack and the expectations around interoperable charging infrastructure
Charger vendors and contributors
This includes:
- hardware manufacturers
- software providers
- backend (CPMS) and integration teams
- contributors who want closer alignment with operator requirements and deployment realities
The group is public and open under the EVerest community umbrella. The kickoff materials explicitly positioned it as a user-group style forum where CPOs, vendors, and contributors can collaborate around shared operational priorities.
Get involved
The EVerest CPO Forum is for organizations that want to move from isolated operational issues to shared solutions.
Whether you operate chargers today, are evaluating EVerest-based infrastructure, or build products that need to align with operator expectations, the forum offers a practical way to contribute. Participants help define requirements, improve visibility into real-world issues, and support a more interoperable charging ecosystem through open collaboration.
