Latest LF Energy PowSyBl Release Offers Enhancements to Load Flow Accuracy, Sensitivity Analysis, and Security

The LF Energy PowSyBl community has released powsybl-dependencies v2025.1.0, which concludes the last PowSyBl release train. PowSyBl is an open source library dedicated to electrical grid modeling and simulation.

This new release corresponds to a new release for each of the 6 repositories constituting the PowSyBl release train, whose versions and release notes are listed in the table below.

Repository Release notes
powsybl-core v6.8.1
powsybl-open-loadflow v1.16.0
powsybl-diagram v4.9.0
powsybl-dynawo v2.9.0
powsybl-entsoe v2.14.0
powsybl-open-rao v6.6.0
The most noteworthy new features / improvements are:
  • IIDM v1.14: Introduction of solved value attributes
  • HVDC adjustments in the CGMES import
  • Work on robustness and accuracy of load flow computation (including introduction of parameters minNominalVoltageRealisticVoltageCheck and extrapolateReactiveLimits)
  • Support of more sensitivity types in the open-loadflow’s Sensitivity Analysis
  • Load additional dynamic models from specific parameters for Dynawo
  • Display injections on network-area diagram if requested
  • New parameter to add a security margin during costly optimization
  • Improvements in NC profile importer
  • Reorganize and update open-rao documentation
This release also provides fixes for all the vulnerabilities detected during the recent security audit of PowSyBl, which will be released publicly in the coming weeks.
